Advice for Raising a Company
Yesterday, Fortune Magazine posted my first article as a contributor to its Leadership Insider Network. The article, “6 Things Every New Entrepreneur Should Know When Starting a Business” was written in response to the editor’s question, “What advice would you give someone looking to start their own business?”
In the two and a half years since I started SalientMG, we’ve been fortunate to work with start-ups, established companies and even a Fortune 20. While some of what I’ve encountered as a (relatively) new entrepreneur may be unique to the industry we serve, there are universal truths that cut across all young organizations: Product/Customers, Costs, Speed, Focus, People and Personal Brand. I offer high-level perspective on each.
Marketing plays a critical role in each of these, and through our client work and conversations with dozens of VCs, CEOs, CMOs, etc., I’ve seen that there is a large opportunity for companies such as Salient to provide solutions. So that’s just what we are doing. Given some of these challenges organizations face, we are building products to help start-ups, upstarts and even established companies get a better handle on their Marketing.
