SALIENT SPOTLIGHT: UberMedia Partners with Hawaii Tourism Authority
This week, SalientMG would like to spotlight UberMedia for their partnership announcement with Hawaii Tourism Authority.
As a top travel destination, Hawaii’s popularity is often due to its unmatched beauty, one-of-a-kind experiences, and unique cultural offerings. The tens of millions of tourists hosted each year by the state have generated both positive and negative impacts to its communities and ecosystem. In an effort to better understand what travelers are drawn to and their social, economic, and environmental impact, Hawaii Tourism Authority has partnered with UberMedia to collect and analyze traveler trends based on their mobile location data.
This data will inform Hawaii’s local governments on travel trends and surface opportunities where increased protection of natural ecosystems is necessary. Data gathered via UberMedia’s platform will also play an important role in helping HTA measure the social, economical, and environment impacts of the ~10M tourists Hawaii hosts each year. Coupled with traditional methods of tourist feedback — including visitor counts, feedback surveys, and spending analysis — mobile location data offers another level of understanding that doesn’t require the time and attention of travelers, all the while protecting their information by anonymizing the data itself. State and local governments are instead able to dive into demographic data, ‘hot spots,’ visitor frequency, traveler type – such as business or family vacation — and measure it against other known tourism data points for a high-level view of tourism trends.
“We’re honored to be partnering with the State of Hawaii to help them analyze tourism data and surface new ways to better serve travelers, while protecting its local communities and ecosystems,” said Gladys Kong, CEO of UberMedia. “Mobile location data allows state and local officials to make informed decisions about how best to welcome the millions of people that love Hawaii for everything it has to offer, based on a more intimate understanding of who is visiting and what is resonating with them during their stay.“
Congratulations to the UberMedia team on this amazing new partnership!
