Advice to My 22 Year Old Self
Truth be told, I don’t often think about the early days of my career. When Fortune asked what advice I’d give my younger self, I looked my daughter, who is in her first year at the University of Alabama. I thought about the tough transition from college into my first job. I learned theory in school, but nothing truly prepared me to enter the workforce. I thought about the advice I would give her when she graduates. But she’s been working for SalientMG for three years, so much of what I would tell her, she’s seeing each day.
I also don’t know how well I would have or could have listened when I was 22. In many ways, I think we have to go through all of it—the good and the bad. It shaped who we are and who we are to become. If you’d like to know the advice I’ll try to give her when she graduates; here’s my piece for the Fortune Insider.
